On the left up the South circular road are 50 or so trees that guard the entrance and outside walls of Griffith college and just to the right if you don’t pay attention and missed it, is the sleepy leafy Washington Street. Every year on good Friday the Dicksons throw a party, one year they barbequed sheep, a pig two years in a row, Dublin Bay ‘circle’ of prawns are always available, it’s not for the Vegetarians in your immediate family, but there’s always a clatter of friends and work people who are powerful connoissuers at storytelling, be ready. Take vitamins.
Differently this year Colin and Adam, brothers, where based out of Colins new house which if you were looking for a Location for a two act play by Synge this is where you could shoot the stills for it, so much charm from a world away, a time and place we’re trying to get rid of, strip down to the ‘original’ and keep the character. It’s rough and unfinished but I spotted some hints of a previous life and things that effortlessly skid into the past. Including keys Colin didn’t yet know the use for and an old Empire State picture of mine.
